Cinema Paradiso is a multifunctional event and screening space located within PURO Hotel, Łódź, designed to challenge the often impersonal atmosphere of traditional conference rooms. Rather than treat event facilities as secondary, the design integrates this area fully into the hotel’s spatial narrative—ensuring continuity in character, materiality, and cultural relevance.

The concept draws inspiration from the city’s deep cinematic heritage. Łódź is home to one of the oldest film schools in the world, having educated iconic filmmakers such as Andrzej Wajda and Roman Polański. This legacy informed the creation of a space that functions both as a luxury cinema and a flexible venue for conferences, talks, or private events.

The visitor’s journey begins at the hotel’s main reception, where a sculptural stair ascends alongside a bespoke concrete-tiled wall. From there, guests pass through a cloakroom/reception area into a suite of connected spaces. The Popcorn Room serves as a classic conference room, its walls lined with Polish film posters. Adjacent to it, Cinema Paradiso—the dedicated bar—features iconic cinema signage and acts as a transitional space that supports catering and social gathering. At the core is the Cinema Room, styled like a high-end screening room, yet adaptable for lectures or naturally lit daytime events.

The material palette mirrors the rest of the hotel: brutalist concrete, polished brass, rich velvets, terrazzo finishes, and bold carpeting create a tactile, layered experience. Through this immersive design, Cinema Paradiso celebrates local culture while rethinking the potential of hospitality-driven event spaces.
